Old: Ver.4.75 of Casper Cartridge

概要

Casper Cartridge とはUSBメモリからブートするLinux環境を作るためのファイルのことです。
拡張現実・複合現実の研究分野にあるサンプルプログラムを実行してみたりコンパイルしてみたりすることができます。
4GBのUSBメモリと、USB boot可能なPCがあれば、試してみることが可能です。

カートリッジ一覧（Ver.4〜）

Ver.4シリーズの中で最新版はCasper-4.75Eです。
4.75Eは英語版のため、キーボードレイアウトがUSですし、日本語入力ができません（起動後キーボードは日本語版に変更可能ですし、日本語の表示はそのままでも可能です）。
(2011年末に公開される予定だったOpenCV 2.3.2 を待っていたのですが、来ないので見切り発車しました)

大変恐縮ですが、以前の4.75Eはアップロード時の問題で圧縮ファイルが破損してました。
現在は正しいものに訂正してあります。(2012/03/01)

ブート可能なUSBメモリスティックの調製法

(1) 必要なもの:

• A USB memory stick (4GB or larger required)
• One Windows PC
  (Use it to cook USB and boot test)

(2) 作業手順:

This is very similar to the procedure of "Burn your CD or create a bootable USB stick"

1. On Windows-PC, download Universal USB Installer (ver.1.8.6.8)
2. Plug the USB stick the PC, and run the USB installer.
   1. Step1: Ubuntu10.4.X
   2. Step2: ubuntu-10.04.1-desktop-i386.iso
   3. Step3: Check-box On ("We will format")
   4. Step4: 0MB
   5. Go!
3. Download a casper file (click the version at the table above)
   1. Unzip and rename the downloaded casper file to casper-rw EXACTLY.
      (If you set wrong name, the Ubuntu will boot WITHOUT the cartridge.)
      (For 4.75E, the uncompressed file size should be 3000 x 1024 x 1024 bytes.)
   2. Copy the casper-rw to the top directory of the USB memory stick.

(3) 起動と実行:

Boot a PC by the cooked USB memory stick and enjoy.
"00README-casper*.txt" on the desktop would help you.
(You need a USB bootable PC and you may need to set-up BIOS to allow the PC to boot from USB memory stick.)
